At Richard Jay, we were incredibly proud to be part of the launch of the latest Orange Sky mobile laundry van in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, knowing what a difference it will make to people experiencing homelessness in the area.
Orange Sky is the world’s first free mobile laundry service that provides clean clothes and conversation for those who are doing it tough. As a family business, Richard Jay cares deeply about the communities we operate in, so we identify strongly with the Orange Sky mission.
We believe every Australian deserves freshly laundered sheets and clean clothes to wear, because it can make such an enormous difference to a person’s confidence and self-esteem.
Since Richard Jay partnered with Orange Sky as a founding sponsor in 2014, the charity’s been expanding around the country. This new van, known affectionately as ‘Don’, is the first dual-service mobile laundry and shower vehicle for the greater Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. It was made possible with a generous donation from Seaton Foundation Director, Belinda Seaton, in memory of her father, Don.
Unveiled in Byron Bay at the end of February, the van will help the more than 1,500 people experiencing homelessness in this region by providing a place where they can clean their clothes, shower and connect with volunteers.

Richard Jay partners with LG Commercial to supply Orange Sky with commercial-grade washing machines, dryers and Brightwell laundry dispensers for the mobile laundry vans, as well as providing servicing and spare parts across Australia.
LG’s washers are exceptionally reliable and have outstanding durability, thanks to their robust direct drive motor and superior water efficiency which ensures a brilliantly clean wash, every single time. The team at Orange Sky has told us these hard-working LG machines have been critical to their work, which totals more than 1,350,000 kilograms of washing to date.
