Scientists in the UK have concluded that the rapid spread of COVID-19 is partly due to its ability to live on door handles for up to nine days.
UK Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty explained that people can contract COVID-19 by touching contaminated surfaces and then touching their face.
He added that coronavirus may remain contagious on hard metal or plastic surfaces such as door handles for at least 72 hours, with other scientific research showing it can survive on door handles for up to nine days.
