Hygienic laundry solutions for the hospitality industry.

Results-driven laundry solutions to help Aussie hospitality thrive

In metro areas, it can be tempting to outsource laundry operations to facilities with automation and high-volume production, in order to reduce costs associated with onsite laundries. However, the end results are often compromised.

Having an on-premise laundry allows you to take full control of your laundry and provide a premium customer experience that drives referrals and incentivises return business.

Partial or full on-premise laundry?

One element of production is usually a great first step for customers looking to bring laundries in house – that of towel-cleaning. Washing terry towels on-site is simple and requires very little space, which drives down costs versus outsourcing.

Linens, on the other hand, are a different story. Large automated laundries can often process 200 to 250 sheets per hour per person, whereas smaller flatwork ironers found in on-premise laundries only process 25 to 100 sheets per hour. This means labour costs must be front of mind when you’re considering bringing linen laundering on site.

Flatwork ironers – how do they compare?

This example compares three models of 2m flatwork ironers, all available at Richard Jay.

  • E200.30: This small chest-heated flatwork ironer is the most reliable model in our range. Due to its simplicity in design it requires minimal maintenance, though it’s only capable of processing around 25 sheets per hour.
  • IC43320: As the smallest cylinder heated flatwork ironer we stock, this is a higher maintenance machine due to its more complicated design. However, it has a higher contact surface of 244 degrees compared to the 124 degrees on the prior model, which doubles evaporation from 12 to 24 litres per hour and in effect doubles production. We believe this makes it well worth the minor increase in maintenance.
  • IC64821: This model includes a 48cm diameter cylinder versus the prior model’s measurement of 33cm, and has a higher thermal input – increasing evaporation to 36 litres per hour. This allows us to increase production by 50% compared to the IC43320, and offers three times more production than the E200.30.

All three ironers have a two-metre width, however production amounts with one operator vary from 25kg to 50kg and 75kg respectively. This means you should carefully choose a model which best suits your production.

 Extending your linen life

We know that high quality linen and towels aren’t cheap – and that’s why we offer unique washer and dryer technologies that maximise linen life.

Washers

  • Efficient dosing adjusts chemical dosages according to the loaded weight, ensuring linen isn’t destroyed by unnecessarily high chemical dosages. Giving just the right amount per load results in better rinsing and brighter, whiter whiter linen.
  • Power balance is our accelerometer-based vibration management system, which adjusts extracting in real time and increases extraction when vibration reduces through dewatering. This ensures the best possible extraction and minimises required time in the dryer.

Dryers

  • Moisture Balance is the standard residual moisture control system shipped with all Electrolux Professional 6 single-pocket dryers. This stops operation when towels are dry or linen has reached the correct moisture levels to suit your flatwork ironer – preventing over-drying and fibre damage.
  • Reversing drums are another standard Electrolux Professional feature. Improving dry times by 7-10 minutes by constantly redistributing the wet areas of the load, reversing drums eliminate the tangling and balling common amongst non-reversing dryers, and reduce the chance of scorching.
